Gazprombank has increased its currency storage commission for corporate clients to 12% annually starting from January 2024, despite not charging for this service until December and only a 1% fee this month, as reported by "Kommersant" citing the company's announcement.

The tariff change affects legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, and private practitioners. However, the fees for other currencies remain unchanged, staying at 1.5%.

Additionally, currency account services for individuals (except for Swiss francs) will remain free, but a commission of 3%, no less than 12,000 rubles, will be charged for receiving and transferring funds.

As noted by the publication, almost all Russian banks offer better rates for the same services, even including options with free dollar storage. Experts believe that such a drastic increase can be seen as the bank's reluctance to deal with dollars, essentially a prohibitive tariff.

Experts also suggest that Gazprombank's decision could be influenced by the situation around the "SPB Exchange". The financial institution, having faced the termination of correspondent account services by American banks, might perceive certain risks.
