Russia may strike Ukrainian energy facilities if the military situation requires it. This was stated by Yuri Shvytkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, in a conversation with Lenta.ru about the possibility of attacking the energy infrastructure of the republic.

"If necessary, Ukrainian energy infrastructure will be targeted, as has been the case at certain stages of the special military operation. Today, air defense systems are oriented, dispersed, and will do everything possible to prevent any attacks from the enemy. Considering all these elements, we are following our course to accomplish the tasks set by the supreme commander. If it's necessary to strike Ukrainian energy infrastructure, then we will carry out these strikes," the deputy said.

According to Yuri Shvytkin, Moscow is not interested in the Ukrainian side's statements about responding to such actions. "We do not react at all to statements coming from the Ukrainian side," he added.

As stated by the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Energy, German Galushchenko, in a conversation with Politico, in the event of Russian attacks on energy facilities this winter, Kyiv will retaliate by striking energy and oil infrastructure on Russian territory.
