Over 30 years, the Russian Constitution has proven its functionality, but this does not mean that everything is perfect. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, as reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the politician, the Constitution should not be adopted and updated frequently. He emphasized that over 30 years, it has proven itself as a working document that defines the basic rights, freedoms, and duties of citizens and establishes the system of state power. "This does not mean that everything is perfect... We all proceed from the fact that the Constitution is not only a document of the highest legal force but also an act of direct action," said Medvedev.

He explained that in some cases, the norms of the Constitution require the use of other force acts. "All this indicates that the Constitution is alive and works," emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council.

Earlier, the head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, Pavel Krasheninnikov, stated that the Russian Constitution will not need changes in the near future. According to him, after the document was adopted in 1993, many spoke about the need for a new Constitution soon, but the version, supplemented with amendments in 2020, is still working.
