In Russia, record waiting times for the delivery of auto parts primarily concern luxury vehicles worth over 10 million rubles, as reported to "Izvestia" by Said Zaliev, the founder of GTK-Holding. According to experts, in more than two-thirds of cases, this involves repairs of cars under CASCO (comprehensive auto insurance), while sources from the publication noted that due to this trend, work under OSAGO (compulsory motor third-party liability insurance) cannot be completed within the legally required one-month period.

It is noted that the waiting times for imported auto parts have significantly increased due to sanctions, reaching up to one and a half years. Experts discussing the reasons for such a considerable increase in delivery times emphasize that the problem could be solved by allowing the use of second-hand parts. The introduction of this option at the legislative level is being discussed this year.

Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia, Philipp Gabunia, previously mentioned that the preparation of amendments was prompted by lengthy delivery times for components, due to which insurers are unable to complete repairs. Initially, the repair of parts most commonly damaged in accidents but not affecting safety, such as wings, bumpers, and hoods, is planned to be permitted.

Throughout 2023, the cost of auto parts in Russia, as listed on advertisement aggregators and in insurance repair catalogs, has increased by 7 to 17 percent, according to an assessment by the "Drom" service and the Russian Union of Auto Insurers released in early December.
