Sber becomes the world's third-largest acquirer by the number of processed transactions

Sber has confirmed its position in the rating of the world's largest merchant acquirers by the number of processed transactions. According to The Nilson Report's The 150 Largest Merchant Acquirers Worldwide, in 2022 Sber processed 42.1 billion transactions, ranking third in the world by this metric. The bank's share among the leading 150 global acquirers was 9 percent.
Over the year, Sber managed to halve the gap with its closest competitor — FIS (WORLDPAY) — from 6 to 3 percent.
Furthermore, Sber showed the highest growth rate in the number of transactions among the leaders of the rating: +11 percent, compared to 4 percent for JPMORGAN/CHASE and 8 percent for FIS (WORLDPAY).
"Sber continues to hold leading positions in the global ranking of acquirers, not only by the number of processed transactions but also in the implementation of advanced payment solutions. Today, Sber is one of the largest and most technologically advanced acquirers in the world," said Dmitry Malykh, Senior Vice President, Head of the B2C Transaction Banking Block at Sberbank.
