The offer from Moldovan company NordGaz Furnizare to supply gas from Turkey at prices significantly lower than those of Russian gas will apply to all regions of the country, stated the company's director, Alexander Grosu, as reported by RIA Novosti.

Previously, the head of Moldova's autonomous region of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, announced an agreement with NordGaz Furnizare. According to her, Turkish gas will be supplied to the region at the price of 10 lei (56 cents) per cubic meter, which is more than one and a half times lower than the current tariffs in the republic.

However, Grosu now indicated that the agreement with the southern region is a pilot, and the company is ready to start selling affordable gas in other parts of the country. He mentioned that NordGaz Furnizare has reached agreements with several Turkish suppliers and concluded three preliminary contracts with European traders.

The company's head emphasized their ongoing efforts to expand gas purchases, aiming to increase the number of suppliers and, consequently, customers in Moldova.

Earlier, Moldova's Energy Minister Victor Parlicov expressed skepticism about NordGaz Furnizare's proposal. He noted that the company had never been involved in gas supplies, and the documents presented by it lacked a stamp from the Turkish company.

Currently, Moldova receives its gas from Russia. Since May, the cost per cubic meter of fuel for household consumers has been 16.73 lei ($0.92). The unresolved issue remains the size of the debt for past supplies. "Gazprom" demands over $700 million, while Chisinau insists on a figure nearly a hundred times less.
