Investigative Committee Opens Criminal Case on Terrorism After Train Carriages Derail in Ryazan Region

The Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) has initiated a criminal case following the derailment of freight train carriages in the Ryazan region. This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the agency.
The case involves Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist Act") and 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal Acquisition of Explosive Devices").
The ICR clarified that the detonation of a homemade explosive device occurred at 07:12 on the 190th kilometer of the third main track of the Rybnoye - Blockpost section. As a result, 19 carriages of the train, traveling from Titan station on the October Railway to Yulyevka station on the Volga Railway, derailed, with 15 of them sustaining damage.
The extent of the damage is being assessed. Investigators are inspecting the scene of the incident and establishing all the circumstances of the event and the individuals involved in the crime.
Earlier, it was reported that in Ryazan, authorities are searching for two individuals who may be involved in the explosion on the railway. Witnesses interviewed by investigators claim they saw two individuals "digging around" at the explosion site several hours before the sabotage.
On November 11, in the Ryazan region, 19 carriages of a freight train derailed as a result of an explosion. Presumably, the accident was caused by "the intervention of third parties." As a result, the assistant engineer sustained minor injuries. The train was transporting mineral fertilizers. The incident did not affect the movement of passenger trains.
