Russia has proposed introducing a discount on fines for unpaid parking, a suggestion put forward by Alexey Nechaev, leader of the "New People" party, and Vladislav Davankov, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma from the "New People". The deputies prepared and sent a corresponding bill for government review. A copy of the document was obtained by "Lenta.ru".
The initiative aims to simplify the mechanism for paying parking fees in cities and to increase the collection of fines.
"Discounts for the timely payment of fines are already stipulated in the law if they are paid within the first two weeks. However, this does not apply to fines for overdue paid parking, which are currently under regional jurisdiction. Our bill will establish a uniform norm for all operators and allow paying only half the fine if the driver does so voluntarily and promptly, within 20 days," Nechaev explained.
The draft law establishes a 50 percent discount for timely payment of fines for overdue parking fees.
