Russia considers Kazakhstan not just an ally but its closest ally, President Vladimir Putin stated during a meeting with the leader of the republic, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This was reported by RIA "Novosti".
"Russia and Kazakhstan are allies. I would like to emphasize that we are not just allies — at least that's how we see it in Russia — but the closest of allies," he said.
Putin also expressed hope that Russia and Kazakhstan will be able to resolve important issues for both countries despite the complexities of the current situation.
