Diana Mondino, the candidate for the head of Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has ruled out the possibility of the country joining BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). This was reported by RIA Novosti.

"No. I don't know why there is such interest in BRICS," she responded to a question about whether Argentina would join the organization starting January 1, 2024.

Following the count of 86.59% of the ballots, Javier Milei, a far-right politician and opponent of Argentina's entry into BRICS and cooperation with Russia, won the second round of the presidential elections with 55.95% of the votes. His opponent, Minister of Economy and candidate from right-wing forces, Sergio Massa, conceded defeat.

In October, it was reported that Venezuela plans to join BRICS in the second wave of the expansion of the association.
