Latvia to Build Military Fortifications on Russian Border
Delfi: Latvia Employs Military for Border Fortification Construction with Russia

Latvia is engaging its National Armed Forces (NAF) in the construction of military fortifications along the Russian border, as reported by Delfi, citing the Republic's Ministry of the Interior (MOI) press service.
The decision to use the army for erecting defensive structures aims to accelerate the pace of construction. With the support of the NAF, two sections of fortifications, measuring 11 kilometers and 8.45 kilometers respectively, are planned.
The company "State Real Estate" is serving as the general contractor for this project. The organization will oversee the construction process and monitor its progress.
In late October, Latvia's Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite announced that the Baltic States would conduct exercises to assess the efficiency of joint algorithms for closing borders with Belarus. The Minister asserts that such collaboration should send a "serious signal to hostile states."
